Meet Pain Management Specialist, Jose Santos, MD

Jose Santos, MDJose Santos, MD, is a fellowship-trained interventional spine and pain management specialist. He joined Bone & Joint’s pain management team in 2017. Dr. Santos treats people of all ages who suffer from acute and chronic pain.

Dr. Santos uses conservative procedures to treat pain caused by spinal and musculoskeletal injuries, orthopedic injuries, and nerve conditions. He also helps his patients develop mindfulness as a pain management tool.

“I believe in the body’s innate ability to heal itself and use the most conservative treatment methods possible to help people reduce pain and achieve their highest level of function,” said Dr. Santos. “I use a comprehensive approach to diagnosis and treatment and am committed to caring for my patients and improving the quality of their lives.”

Dr. Santos is a board-certified physical medicine and rehabilitative physician. He is fellowship-trained in the use of fluoroscopically guided spinal injections for cervical and lumbar disorders, ultrasound-guided injections for the treatment of peripheral nerve and joint disorders, spinal cord stimulation for pain relief, intramuscular stimulation (dry needling), trigger-point injections, and Botox for spasticity and headaches. He also has a special interest in electrodiagnostic (EMG) testing.

Dr. Santos earned his medical degree from the University of the East, Ramon Magsaysay Memorial Medical Center in Quezon City, Philippines. He completed his family medicine residency at the University of Missouri-Kansas City in Kansas City, Missouri. Dr. Santo served as chief resident in physical medicine and rehabilitation at the University of Miami, Jackson Memorial Hospital, in Miami, Florida. Dr. Santos completed fellowship training in interventional spine and pain management at the University of Washington in Seattle, Washington.
